The Wild Sovereign Soul Path

Get to know our story, the deep soul work we offer, and you

Something in you has always known there is more to this life than this culture tells us…

More meaning, more depth, living life more fully, more of whatever it is that you ache for at three in the morning, more of what feels a million miles away when you’re crushed under the weight of the demands of this modern world, or out in the wild, or in those moments when time seems to stop and something vast speaks to you.

You are not here to fit the mould, or follow the crowd, or settle for a life that leaves your soul exiled, and the fact that you are here, reading this, says something important about who you are and what you are ready for.

Wild Sovereign Soul is a path for people like you… soul seekers, what we also call the ‘divergent ones’ (not necessarily neurodivergent, but often that too), and it is built from over thirty years of lived searching, suffering, devotion and discovery, and from the countless souls we have had the honour of walking alongside.

It is a path that works across the full terrain of a human life, through the body and the wild, through the shadow and the sacred, through the work of becoming sovereign and healing the wounded child within, through the ancient arts of knowing oneself and through the potent alchemy of being in community, all in service of the one thing that matters most:

Awaken to the truth of who you really are, living the life your soul came here for, remembering that this work of coming home to your true self is also, always, an act of love in service to the whole.

Wherever you are on this journey, whether you are just beginning to feel the pull of something you don’t yet have words for, or years deep into your own path, searching for the guidance and companionship to go further, we can meet you there

The world you were born into has changed beyond recognition. And you felt it long before you had words for it.

Twelve years ago, when we began doing this work together, we were already calling it "this crazy modern world." We coined that phrase early on, and it has been with us ever since, because it named something true. We were already seeing what disconnection from soul, from wildness, from any real inner authority was doing to people, we were already watching the rates of dis-ease rise, the loneliness deepen, the sense of lostness spread, and we had no idea how much further it would go.

Since then, the pace has accelerated beyond what any of us could have anticipated. We are the children caught in a flux state where the world is moving at a rate of change our evolution simply cannot match. The ways of living that once gave life its shape, its rhythm, its meaning, are breaking down. The ancient ways of knowing ourselves, of being initiated into adulthood, of belonging to something larger than the individual self, have been all but lost. And in their place we have a culture that is fast, shallow, screen-lit, and loud, a culture that has conditioned most of us to look outward for guidance that can only ever come from within.

And yet. There is something else happening too, something we feel in our bones and know in our souls: this breaking down is also an opening. These times, as disorienting as they are, are also an invitation.

Something is being asked of those of us who feel the call to live differently, to remember something older, to become more fully ourselves, and that is why we are here.

Who we are here for

Over the years we have come to understand that broadly speaking there are two kinds of people: those who have come here to conform, to move with the current of mainstream culture, and those who have not. There is nothing lesser in the conformist path, it is simply the soul's choice for that lifetime. But it is not our path, and it is not yours. You are one of the divergent ones, and if you are not sure, the fact that you are still reading this is answer enough.

The divergent ones are not necessarily neurodivergent, though like the two of us, many of them are. The divergent ones are the people who cannot or will not fit the mould, or not without great cost. They have always sensed that something essential is missing from the life they were handed. They struggle with the incessant intensity of the modern world, not because they are deficient or over-sensitive but because they are oriented differently, feeling things more deeply, seeing through things more clearly, carrying a restless searching that is not pathology but calling.

Many of them have known great suffering: the illness that the medical world has no diagnosis for, the chronic pain, the depression, the sense of being profoundly out of time and place, the aching loneliness born not from a lack of people but from a lack of true kinship, the kind that comes from meeting others who know what it is to be this alive, this searching, this unwilling to settle.

This is not you being too much, it is the modern way of living being too small for you, and we created Wild Sovereign Soul as the path for people like you.

Our stories

Jonathan’s story

Jonathan was thrust into a life of great suffering and challenge, and the path he took in order to try to understand and cure his own suffering meant he discovered the answers to some of the most important questions of our times, for all of us.

From around the age of eight, following the separation of Jonathan’s parents and his father leaving, a cascade of health conditions began to surface. What was happening in his body was vast and relentless. His immune system turned on itself, bringing autoimmune conditions, fibromyalgia, ME and chronic fatigue that made simply getting through a day an act of extraordinary will. His gut and nervous system were in a state of constant and severe dysregulation, riddled with dysbiosis and chronic infections, his body gripped by the kind of full-body inflammatory pain that leaves no part of life untouched. And then there was his head: brain fog, headaches and migraines so consuming that he was at one point symptomatic of a brain tumour, with all the scans and tests that followed. Anxiety threaded through all of it. Back issues compounded everything else.

The medical world, having watched all of this unfold, offered him its most honest assessment: there was a high probability he would end up in a wheelchair. That was the moment he decided he would find the answers himself, setting him on a path of over thirty years of dedicated exploration, into the mind, body and soul of the human animal, into the natural world and our evolutionary relationship with it, and journeying deep into the wisdom traditions of every culture he could find. Many of the conditions have continued and evolved alongside that journey, some well into his adult life, each one a further chapter in the same relentless and ultimately sacred unfolding.

What emerged from that searching was not a cure as such but a path, the understanding that what he had been trying to heal was not broken, that his suffering was the greatest blessing and deepest calling of his soul, and the material for liberation, alchemising suffering into grace and love.

His capacity for deeply seeing others, especially divergent ones, allows him to illuminate what someone's soul has come here to be, what is required for them to become it, and to guide them into the actualisation of their deepest gifts with great reverence and love.

Jonathan's life work is finding grace in the suffering. He walks a path of what he experiences as Christ consciousness, not as religion but as a living orientation toward softening, surrendering control, leading beside, and ultimately into pure love and grace.

Lian’s story

Lian's childhood was a rare, wild and magical one, immersed in nature, surrounded by animals, her mind expanded through adventure, tarot, song, story, and art.

Lian’s parents separated when she was five, her father left, and for young Lian it was as though the sun had gone out, and unbeknownst to her back then, that rupture created a sacred wound that shaped the course of her life. She made a decision, somewhere beneath conscious thought, to never again be that vulnerable, rejecting everything she associated with the feminine, with women, with weakness. When he returned, the two of them set off together, following the hippy trail across Morocco and Ibiza, living on the land, sleeping under the stars and fig trees.

Growing up, she also experienced hallucinations, dissociative episodes, and vivid liminal encounters that the culture around her had no language for, experiences that would only begin to make sense many years later. So she spent most of her adult life trying to fit her wild, autistic, magical Round Peg soul into the tame, mundane, soul-less Square Hole of our culture.

The soul path called anyway, first through a violent attack, then through fifteen years of panic attacks and chronic facial pain that no medicine could touch, and that she eventually simply learned to live with.

And then her father died, suddenly and under shocking circumstances. That second rupture of his leaving, this time in death, cracked her open, simultaneously feeling the full weight of the loss and seeing a beauty and a meaning so vast she had no words for it. Within a year, the pain and panic attacks had vanished. That inexplicable transformation became the question she has spent every year since trying to understand, not for herself but in service. It brought her out of the corporate world, to immerse herself in a deep spiritual path, then a shamanic apprenticeship, and into the work she was born for.

Lian's lifelong work is the soul expression of Unity, the Incandescent Chalice, the archetypal embodiment of the divine feminine well of complete receptivity and unconditional love, devoted to union.

The path we have walked together

Before we found each other, we had each been doing this work separately, shaped by our own soul paths to that point.

When we met at a retreat in 2014 (the photo is of the two of us back in 2015, a year after we met!), w

e recognised very quickly that we were doing similar things apart and were being called to do them together, that our work and our souls had a resonance that neither of us could have planned.

What we discovered over the years that followed is that we are, in almost every other way, polar opposites. Lian is hyperlexic, Jonathan dyslexic. Lian came to this path through a sudden, shattering opening to Spirit, Jonathan through decades of physical suffering and an unrelenting search for answers. And each of us is on a lifelong path of embodying one of the great archetypes, Jonathan the divine masculine, Lian the divine feminine, two callings that were always, it turns out, walking toward the same thing: union. What neither of us could have created alone has become something greater than either of us separately, a wholeness that our people feel when they encounter this work, even if they cannot immediately name why.

Our souls, it seems, chose the perfect alchemy of opposites, challenging and beautiful in equal measure, providing for each other precisely the friction that no comfortable dynamic ever could, going straight to the deepest wound, the one no-one else can reach. And we have kept going, over all these years of it, choosing over and over again to see the gift in the challenge rather than the excuse to leave, because the material for liberation is almost always found in exactly the place you least want to look.

And it is out of all of that, the searching, the suffering, the friction, the devotion, the many years of choosing this over and over again, that the Wild Sovereign Soul path was born, not as a theory, but as something we have lived from the inside out, through all three of its primordial strands of Wild, Sovereign and Soul.

The Wild Sovereign Soul story

We began as Born Happy, then became Primal Happiness, then Waking the Wild, then Be Mythical, and now Wild Sovereign Soul. When we told our team and students we were rebranding again, we braced for the sigh. Instead, every single person felt the deep alignment and said much the same thing: "YES! Finally!" That told us everything we needed to know.

It is not that any of those earlier names were wrong, they were true in their moment. Be Mythical, most recently, brought a real clarity: the understanding that we are each here to live the myth of our own soul, and that the great archetypes, the myths and stories that humans across time and the world over have carried, are not relics but living technologies. That understanding is as true now as it ever was, it is part of the marrow of this soul work.

But over the course of those years, something kept insisting itself. Three threads, persistent and consistent, wove through everything we were doing, everything we were discovering, every story we witnessed in the people we worked with, and in our own lives. We began calling them primordial strands, and the more we turned toward them, the more we understood: these are not just themes, they are first principles, the founding stones that a soul-led, fully lived life has to be built upon.

Wild. Sovereign. Soul.

Reclaim your wildness. Actualise your sovereignty. Awaken your soul.

The name was already there, waiting for us to catch up to it.

The 3 Primordial Strands

The Wild Sovereign Soul path is built on three Primordial Strands. We call them primordial because they are first principles: the smallest possible truths that everything else is built upon, the underlying assumptions that a fully lived life has to be built on in order for us to live it fully. They are not beliefs, they are not helpful frameworks, they are the founding stones.

And we call them strands because they are threads, woven together and inseparable, each carrying within it the suggestion of something that will be twined with the others, like strands of DNA, like the roots and trunk and branches of a tree.

Reclaiming Your Wildness

The Wild primordial strand is reclaiming our original state of naturalness before our taming and conditioning from modern domestication.

When we live this strand fully, life flows once more with a sense of being at home in one's own skin and in the living world, guided by instinctive knowing and sensual aliveness, resourced and resilient, with a deep feeling of belonging.

Wildness is not about living in a shack in the woods and eating bugs. It is about what is natural, what is the original operating system of this body, this being, this creature. For eons we knew the answer in our bones without ever having to ask the question. We were nature… we lived inside it, were held by it, oriented by it, initiated by it. That intimacy has been eroded, slowly at first and now rather intensely, and the result is a vast disconnection that shows up in every form of dis-ease you can name.

There is ancestral wisdom lying dormant in the body, waiting to be woken. It does not take long, even a few hours in genuine stillness, in the actual world, away from screens and noise and the relentless pace of modern life, and the body begins to slow. The moment we slow, we begin to open, and once we open, something comes online that has simply been waiting.

This strand also matters because without it, the work of the other two is weightless. It is here, in the body and the living world, that life actually happens, that the rubber meets the road. All the sovereignty and soul-awakening in the world has to land somewhere physical, somewhere sensory and real, or it remains an idea.

Actualising Your Sovereignty

The Sovereign primordial strand is actualising the elevated awareness that provides agency, inner confidence and self-governance.

When we live this strand fully, life is shaped by divinely guided conscious choice. We move with the majesty to act in the presence of fear and the clarity of purpose to meet whatever life brings.

Sovereignty is something that is actualised over time, something we create. It may be pre-installed in the sense that the potential is always there, but it does not come pre-activated, and in a world where the rites of passage that once brought us through into true adulthood have been all but lost, we have to choose it, and go on choosing it. The sovereign grows through taking aligned actions, actions that arise from the truth of who we are rather than from the wounded, fearful, or conditioned parts.

We often speak of the Sovereign Price and the Victim Price. Every choice point carries both. To live as a victim of this crazy modern world, at its mercy, without agency, is understandable, and it costs something. To pay the Sovereign Price, to make the aligned choice even when it is harder, even when people around you might not approve, costs something else. But the Sovereign Price, however hefty, is always worth it.

Sovereignty is also, and this matters, exceptionally rare. We lack role models for it. We lack true elders partly because we lack true adults, and you cannot grow into an elder without first becoming a true adult. And yet there is something about meeting the archetype of the sovereign, the inner king or inner queen, the one who leads with clarity and accountability and self-knowledge, that calls it forth in us, a blueprint we are activated by and begin to grow into.

Awakening Your Soul

The Soul primordial strand is awakening to the eternal, unified, unique essence of who we really are. There is always a tingle that comes when those words land: eternal, unified and unique, the paradox alive inside them.

When we live this strand fully, life opens into love, beauty and deep meaning, guided by wisdom and vision, where joy and fulfilment arise from living in alignment with one's true calling.

Soul is what this is all for, and the other two strands are in service of this one. It is perhaps the most precious thing there is, and also one of the most difficult to speak about directly, because it lives just beyond where language can reach. What we know, from our own lives and from the lives of the people we have walked alongside, is that awakening to soul gives a person a North Star they did not know they were missing. All at once there is something that matters more than anything else: living the life your soul came here for, and everything else orients around that.

And the further reaches of this path extend beyond the individual soul entirely. As the soul awakens, it awakens also to the soul in others, to the soul of the land, to the living presence that mystics and shamans and sages across every tradition have called by different names: God, Spirit, the Great Mystery, the organising force behind life. It is here that the poets of the Sufi tradition, Rumi, Hafiz, and others, were pointing when they wrote of the Beloved, of union, of the wine that has no cup, though they were reaching toward Spirit rather than soul as we understand it here. The distinction matters, and yet the destination is the same: a life so awake to what is real that you get to see the soul in everyone, and you get to have that experience of true union, with yourself, with others, with the soul of Mother Earth, with the spirit of everything.

We also want to say clearly, not a one-and-done thing. Soul awakening is not typically an end destination that you arrive at, it is a cycle, like the turning of the seasons, like a gardener who returns to the same ground year after year, not to finish it but because that is what gardening is. You will move in and out of states of aliveness, wildness, sovereignty, soul, and stretches of what feels like forgetting, and that is not failure, that is the nature of this work.

And the more times you consciously return to this path, the more that becomes not just a state you visit but a ground you stand on.

The work

The Wild Sovereign Soul Path draws on ancient ways alchemised for modern days, and what we offer is rare in its breadth and depth, the full arc of the journey rather than one strand of it. We work across the embodied and the spiritual, the wild and the sovereign, the shadow and the luminous, and we offer both teaching and personal guidance as you walk your own path through it.

Some of what we do will always have been true, in any century, in any culture. And some of it has been adapted specifically to meet the particular conditions of this era, because we are living through something genuinely unprecedented, and the rate of change demands that we bring presence and intention to how we find our way through it.

The work itself moves across the full terrain of a human life. It takes people out into the wild on soul quests, into the kind of extended stillness where the body remembers what it is. It moves through the deep interior, through the shadow work and alchemy of the wounds that have shaped us, through ritual and ceremony, through the ancient arts of self-gnosis. It works with the body as compass, with myth and archetype as living guides, and with the specific shape of each person's soul as the ultimate map.

And none of this is the full picture, because the path we walk with each person is always, ultimately, uniquely their own. What we offer is the teaching, the bespoke guidance, and the kinship of others walking it alongside you.

Kinship

There is a word that keeps returning to us when we speak about what makes this work possible: kinship. The deep recognition of meeting soul seekers who are also on this path, who know what it costs to be divergent, who have turned toward themselves rather than away, and who are walking their wild sovereign soul path with intention and devotion.

The fellowship, as it is named in the Lord of the Rings, a story built from exactly the kind of myth and archetype that lives at the heart of this work. You do not walk the long road alone, because the ancient ways were never solitary: initiation happened in the presence of the tribe, rites of passage were witnessed, grief was held in circle, wisdom was passed between generations in the warmth of real proximity.

We have built, over twelve years and through five iterations of this work, a true fellowship of soul seekers. Some have been with us since the very beginning, through every twist and turn, every name, every deepening. To those people especially: thank you. Thank you for your trust, and for moving through all of it with us.

And if you are new here: welcome. Your wild sovereign soul brought you here. We do not believe that happens by accident.

You are already on the path

If you have read this far, you are already a soul seeker. You may be in the early stages of this journey, just beginning to feel the pull of something you cannot yet name. You may be years or decades in, doing deep work, navigating something difficult, searching for the kinship and guidance to go further. Wherever you are, we can meet you there.

This path is not for everyone, but if you have read this far, it is for you, and there is no single right way to walk it with us.

For those who want to begin by simply listening and learning, our podcast, The Wild Sovereign Soul Show, is where we pour our own souls each week, journeying through everything from archetypes and myth to the lived reality of soul awakening in the midst of this crazy modern world. Come and sit with us there.

For those who feel the call to walk this path in community, in the company of other divergent ones who truly understand the terrain, UNIO is our home for soul seekers. It is a place of real kinship, real guidance, real belonging, where we show up in the guidance circle to meet whatever is alive for you on your path.

And for those who feel ready for the most intimate work, the kind that changes not just how you think about your life but how your life actually feels from the inside, we offer Wild Sovereign Soul Guidance: working directly and personally with both of us, in a trinity of souls, going deep into all three primordial strands as they live and breathe in the particular truth of your own soul's path.

The most worthwhile journey any of us can devote our lives to is the journey home to soul, and it is long, it goes round and round with the cycles, it is, as we know from the inside, sometimes exquisitely hard, and it is also the greatest gift there is. You do not need to walk it alone.

Come, we are here for you…

All our love and blessings,
Lian and Jonathan
