Why your Chiron wound is also the key to liberating yourself šŸ”‘

by Lian Brook-Tyler

One of the things I’m most excited about in the upcoming Wild Sovereign Soul pilgrimage is the way each of us, held within the group pilgrimage, will also journey deep into our own uniquely personal pilgrimage, via our sacred wound and, importantly, create the ā€œsoul projectā€, aka the Material for Liberation that we will do that healing work through.

We will begin this by gazing through the lens of our Chiron, also known as the ā€˜wounded healer’, placement in our natal chart.

The sign, the house, and any spicy conjunctions can be incredibly illuminating, often somewhat painfully accurately so. It really can be one of those things where, when our Chiron placement is revealed, it simultaneously makes so much sense that it feels like the relief of plunging into a crystal clear pool in a vast desert, and at the same time, it can be sometimes hard to bear the depths of recognition that it stirs.

Speaking personally, despite having already done many years of all kinds of brilliantly deep therapeutic work, much of it focused on illuminating and alchemising my deepest wounds, there was still a whole other world I entered in understanding the Chironic signature written across my life.

I first heard of Chiron in a general astrology reading, and I was so entranced by what I heard that I ended up going down a deep Chiron-shaped rabbit hole, which turned out to be a centaur’s labyrinth, finding out everything I could about this remarkable planetoid.

And then I sought out someone who had devoted their life to understanding Chiron… yes, unbelievably it turned out there was someone even more obsessed than me… Chiron specialist and author, Zane Stein

I laughed and cried when Zane told my Chiron story, so bittersweet was having my whole life reflected back to me in horrifically and wondrously precise detail, by that one tiny curiously key-shaped symbol on my birth chart.

It turned out the key shape was a K for Kowal, the astronomer who discovered Chiron in 1977 but it may well have been a key for the way it unlocked a secret door, that led me into the next magical unfolding of my own soul path and my work with others.

And so, in service of the pilgrimage being a journey of both healing and of coming home to soul (which are so often one and the same), an intentional aspect of the pilgrimage will be this: in recognising more deeply our wound, it will also help illuminate the particular Material for Liberation that we are going to consciously journey with.

This material could be a particular change in a relationship, or it could be a health project, or a creation, something that creates a crucible, holds up a mirror, bringing us present to show who we are and calling us into the true shape of ourselves.

In this way, whilst we are taking a group pilgrimage together, very much as fellow kin towards a shared destination, we will also each have our own very personal journey that takes the shape of both our wound and the medicine that lies there, first for ourselves and then for the world.

And even if you’ve joined us before, perhaps in our crucible ā€˜Medicine’, or you’ve journeyed deeply with us one-to-one into your sacred wound, you will also know that the journey home to soul and the great medicine that lies in the depths of our wound is something we can and need to return to over and over again. And in fact, not only that, it can become one of the most precious gifts and blessings of our lives to do so.

So if you are ready to join us on a pilgrimage of a lifetime into the depths of your sacred wound and to come home to your soul, come join us. We, your fellow soul pilgrims, await you with warm hearts and open arms.

All my love,

Photo from years ago, long before I understood any of this: chosen because despite giving absolute confidence in the Jessica Rabbit dress, I had agonising chronic facial pain and huge panic attacks but most crippling of all, didn’t know who I was… which turned out to be so on brand for my Chironic wound, compounded by a massive stellium (a grouping of planets in the same house or sign) opposite that meant I was perpetually looking to another to define me. And just as soul stories do, this one continues to weave and cycle but in a new way now, one that I can meet with gratitude for the shockingly wise beauty of life.

P.S. as it turns out, I still love to wear red to whirl down those rabbit holes made from stars and soilā€¦šŸ°
