A near death experience that revealed the miracle of prayer - Landon Dennis

Episode 562, released 2nd September 2026.

Lian and NDE survivor Landon Dennis explore what his near death experience showed him that changed the course of his life, and what he learned about the power of prayer in particular: that it can arrive as literal beams of light, strong enough to drive away the dark presences he'd experienced since childhood.

Landon lives in St. George, Utah, works as a peer support specialist, and has spent recent years sharing his near death experience across podcasts and his own YouTube channel.

In this episode, Lian and Landon focus on what his NDE revealed about the power of prayer, from the beams of light he saw driving dark shapes away from him, to the moment he questioned two beings about whether prayer meant anything at all and was shown proof rather than given an answer. Along the way he describes arriving in a field of grass that seemed to glow with its own kind of love, and meeting his grandfather and niece as lights who still gave him the full weight of a hug and the words he needed to hear.

The conversation returns to a night behind a dumpster that his NDE later showed him differently: the dark shapes he'd felt around him that night, and what they turned out to be once prayer arrived as light and drove them off.

Listen if you've ever prayed and doubted it was doing anything, kept praying for someone who seems unreachable, or wondered what happens to the people you've lost.

What you’ll receive from this episode:

  • What happened when Landon questioned the power of prayer out loud during his NDE, and was shown proof rather than given an answer

  • Why the years of prayers his family said for him, never knowing if they were making any difference, turned out to have been answered and stored away long before he needed them most

  • Why the emotional flood he felt watching paramedics work on his own body, so intense he says he felt like he was going to explode, turned out to be something other than fear of death

Could the prayers said for you by yourself or others already be answered but stored away long before you really need them? This week I'm joined by Landon Dennis, a peer support specialist, to explore what his near-death experience showed him that changed the course of his life and what he learned about prayer in particular. Landon has spent recent years speaking about his near-death experience in order to share what it showed him about the power of prayer.

We talk through what happened when Landon questioned two beings during his near-death experience about whether prayer meant anything at all and was shown proof rather than given an answer. He describes watching paramedics work on his own body from several feet above and an emotional flood so intense he felt like he was going to explode, and how that turned out to be something other than the fear of death. We talk about the years his family spent praying for him.

Never knowing if it was making any difference, and what he now understands about where those prayers had actually gone. So listen if you ever prayed and doubted it was doing anything. Kept praying for someone who seems unreachable, or wonder what happens to the people you've lost. If you're new here, this is a show about the deeper, truer life, the one your soul has been calling you towards. If you've been here before, you already know that.

Lian (02:03)

Hello Landon. Welcome to the show.

landon (02:06)

Thank you so much for having me give me the opportunity to come on. I really appreciate it.

Lian (02:13)

my pleasure entirely. I've been really looking forward to speaking to you and sharing your story. it feels to me it's a really, really precious one that belongs out in the world and doing good in the world. So it really is my pleasure. I know you wanted to begin with a prayer, which I was thrilled to say yes to, given part

landon (02:37)

Ha ha.

Lian (02:38)

of what we want to talk about is the power of prayer. So I'll hand over to you and we'll begin with your prayer.

landon (02:46)

Okay, thank you so much. I'll begin.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you so much for the ability that that I have today to to be on this platform and and speak with Lian and please help me, Heavenly Father, to express the words and and things that I have to say in the best way possible, that that the listeners can hear the sincerity and the things that I say and and please help me to be able to feel the spirit and feel directed in the things that I say and the things that I share with the listeners today. And thank you so much for our ability to be here on earth today and to help love one another and help love each other. And again, thank you, Heavenly Father, for all of our blessings that we have each day. And please help us to recognise those blessings. And I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Lian (03:53)

Amen. Thank you so much.

landon (03:56)

Yeah, thank you so much for letting me start out with that. That was very important to me for that. You know, after my brain injury and everything else, I sometimes have a hard time communicating and expressing certain things. So it's definitely one thing I've noticed that when I pray and ask for help with that, I'm not perfect yet, but it's something that helps. So I appreciate you letting me do that.

Lian (04:25)

Wow, I feel we've all benefited from that, so thank you. So

landon (04:30)

Thanks.

Lian (04:31)

I want to begin your story, perhaps a little bit earlier than maybe is usually the case when you're telling your story. I've noticed over and over that when we look back to childhood, we can often see the way that our soul was already showing us something of our journey that is to come in this lifetime. One might say, if you see it this way, there's a reason that each of us came. Our soul came here knowing that we were going to have certain experiences, learn certain things. Now, having experienced everything you've experienced, when you look back to childhood, can you see clues? in terms of what you then later experienced that had its almost like an echo back in childhood.

landon (05:26)

yeah. man, I I so as far as the spiritual side of things, par paranormal side, anything but you know what you wanna call it. from my early childhood I grew up in a house with poltergeists, with ghosts. People can believe in or not. I'm telling you they're real. I also what people have termed Shadow people. I don't know what you wanna call but there's definitely something that would appear in the corner of my room at night. there was different ones, different forms, but I call shadow people. And I can tell you that it was dark entities. I don't know what you want to call people. Shadow peoples, demons, ghosts, spirits, whatever you wanna put the name on it, that's fine with me. But they're real, it would give me sleep paralysis as a child. I would be frozen. And th this one that was the scariest, it was about I mean, I describe it as like a seven foot tall, cloaked looking figure. Literally looked like it just didn't have like I couldn't see facial stuff, anything like that, just pitch black cloak, tall thing. and that messes

Lian (06:57)

Goodness.

landon (06:58)

with me from a very young age. And and one of the cool things about that is growing up is my mom taught me when I when I first started telling her about these experiences, she said, taught me to say, you know, if in the you tell that thing in the name of Jesus Christ, I command you to leave.

And that, you know, at a young age it doesn't make a lot of sense at the time. but I remember this one night that it was a bad night. I could always feel it before I saw it and was frozen. And I could feel it coming over to my bed, just hovering over to my bed. And it knew it knew out that somehow my mom told me how to get rid of it. And at the time I was still didn't understand, but I remember saying just in my head, in the name of Jesus Christ, I command you to leave. And this thing took off and this thing made unnatural noises when it took off. I d it's very hard to describe. I've described it as like nails on a chalkboard screaming type thing.

Lian (08:15)

Oof.

landon (08:16)

yeah, it was, I mean.

Lian (08:18)

Yeah.

landon (08:19)

Those were some gnarly experiences that I had back

Lian (08:23)

Mm.

landon (08:24)

then. but I've also for from a very young age had cool experiences. I've had family members that have passed away come to me in dreams. and some really cool stuff there. the but one of the big ones was I I my niece came to me one night the night that she died in a car accident and she came to me before my parents got the phone call, that she had passed away. And so like I knew she had passed away before they even got the phone call. And my grandpa and other ones. And so those are really, really cool things that have happened to me too. So yeah.

From a young age, I don't ask me why I I don't know why I was able why I call gifts, call it a curse on the other hand, whatever however you wanna put it, you know, I've I've had those experiences from a young age, it scared me at first, but now in retrospect looking back it it puzzles me why I was given I now believe him as gifts, you know, and miracles, both the good and the bad that I experience because it's

Lian (09:41)

Mm.

landon (09:41)

it's made me view the world a lot differently. and so from from an early age I've always had weird I wouldn't call that a bit an ability, but weird, continuous spiritual and paranormal experiences and

Lian (10:05)

Mm, like an openness or a sensitivity to what's there. Mmm.

landon (10:10)

Yeah. Yeah.

I believe certain people are born with different gifts, you know. I believe spiritual gifts are given to people and and some people are more I guess you could say in tune to those type of things. And like I said, you can call it a gift or a curse. P some people probably feel that it's both ways on it. But Yeah, from a young age it's that's that's been something that in retrospect now it's like, Wow, that's it you know, to me it was like what, everybody didn't have those experiences growing up. I thought that was normal, you know. It's happened so often to me and I yeah, but I ended up sleeping I mean, I slept in my parents' bedroom for a couple of years 'cause of those things happening. So it was

Lian (11:03)

Hmm. I don't blame you.

landon (11:06)

Yeah, I know. It was pretty scary. But yeah, in retrospect those things, you know, even the bad I can look back on and be like, you know, that's that was cool. I I ha I gotta see what people wanna call the dark spirits, the demons, w whatever you wanna call And I gotta see and was taught about the power of Jesus Christ, even just his name at that age.

Lian (11:34)

Hmm, yeah.

landon (11:35)

And how it casts that whatever you want to call it, demon, evil spirit, goes, pull you know, whatever it casts it away and it does work. That does work. And so there's that opened my eyes a bit more at that age to even just like I said, the power in the name of Jesus Christ.

Lian (11:59)

Mm.

landon (12:01)

and so

From a young age that that's always happened to me. and I don't know when you want me to jump into the N D E part or

Lian (12:11)

Well, I was perfect timing. Yeah. So I know there is, having heard you tell some of your story before, I know there's a real context to your not near that experience that it might be helpful for you to share some of that. obviously you experience addiction, which created the conditions, I guess one could say, for the

landon (12:36)

I can get into that.

Lian (12:37)

near death experience. So start where you feel might be the right place to give that sense of what was going on in your life that led to those events happening.

landon (12:48)

Okay. Yeah, I can so I can make the first part really short by telling you I am very accident prone. Every time I've done a podcast and I tell how many cars I've been hit by, it seems like by the next podcast I've gained a new car hit hitter. So yeah, no, it's it's it g it it gets bad, so I'm weary of giving you a number on cars, but I

Lian (13:18)

Should we just say a lot?

landon (13:20)

It's getting close to double digits, so I I I've

Lian (13:24)

my goodness.

landon (13:28)

so I'm just I'm very accident prone. I've had a lot of accidents through my life and it led up to you know, getting prescribed pills throughout my life and I didn't get into drugs or anything like that really and not later in my life. I mean I partied a little in high school, you know, when I was younger, but not not a whole lot, but around after high school is when I started really getting into opiates. And I'd gotten into accidents and then I got hooked on opiates. And that eventually, you know, people in my life and in others that I knew around started bringing heroin. And so that became a big thing in my life. I became a big time heroin addict. And if for anybody who struggles with addiction, they know that it turns you into someone that you never thought you could be or would be, makes you do things you never thought you could do or would do.

and so I was at a point in my life where I was very bad into addiction. You know, I'd gone through a homelessness, just lost everything in my life. I lost, you know, my first fiance and my daughter got taken out of my life. Just a lot of bad things, you know, come from addiction. And if if any of your listeners, you know, can connect with that or have family or loved ones i in addiction, I mean it sucks for the whole party involved. But for me, yeah, I was an addict. And so the day of my near-death experience, my parents were out of town and I had to come to their house and I remember going to leave my parents' house on my little scooter, a Vespa. and that's the last thing I remember. And I was going down to get drugs. And luckily it was I mean, it was just a few streets down, not far at all. I didn't even need to take a Vespa, but I did. And when I got there, I guess I overdosed on the drugs at the guy's house. They narcanned me.

I got back up on my Vespa and then on my way home I got hit by a car on my Vespa and so then I fled that scene, made it home real quick. And after overdosing and getting hit by a car on a Vespa on my way home, I walked into my house and I was a IV user.

And I walked in and I guess I went up, but my wife was home at the time my parents at the time when I came back and I just had this blank stare, had blood on me and just walked to the bathroom and to go do more drugs. 'Cause of course why wouldn't you after you just overdose got hit by a car and got home? It's seems like the best idea, you know, that's

Lian (16:47)

My goodness.

landon (16:51)

I was full of great ideas at the addiction. but I got up on a countertop and and overdosed again and it was a high countertop to a tile floor and so I just fell straight back to my head and just cracked my yeah, cracked my head and my wife at the time she heard a noise, but she 'cause I was on the other side of the house in a bathroom, but she just had a bad feeling and she came to check on me and I was just I was on the ground, puddle of blood, just the I was out of it. She said she couldn't like wake me up. I was blue and stuff and so the paramedics came. and I still don't remember any of this. Like I said, the last thing I remember is going to get the drugs. and so all this is just from what I'm told and what I've read. So the the paramedics rush to come get me.

I don't remember seeing any of them until all of a sudden I'm just the ambulance is out by my driveway and they're putting me in it and they're cutting my pants off. They're I mean I'd flatlined, they kept reviving me.

And this is where I'm just like above the ambulance, like a four to six feet, I would say, but I can see through the ambulance, which was a crazy thing to me. Not necessarily at the moment, but in retrospect, you know, it's like I was seeing through like a saran wrap ambulance, it looked like, which is pretty crazy to be able to see that.

Lian (18:36)

Mm.

landon (18:37)

But I saw them working on my body. I remember after they'd cut off my pants, I learned later they couldn't get a vein or anything like that. And so in the emergency situation they were, they had to get a drill. And I saw this, I didn't know what it was at the time, but a drill. It that they drill into your knee and then insert a needle to get into your like to get into for an IV. Yeah, I hear it it they told me it was one of the nurses said it's It's like one of the worst pains. She hears it's one of the worst pains you can do. Luckily for me though, when I watched that, I had no physical pain. I felt no physical pain seeing that. But I will tell you, I haven't read a ton of other NDEs or had before this especially, but I hear other people, you know, it's peace, they're just they're watching their body, it's just bliss and stuff. I've heard that and man that was not that was not my experience. When I was above that body looking at my ambulance, I felt like I the way I describe it to people is like If you've ever had panic attacks before, you know how bad those are. Anxiety's already are bad, but times it by a million and just heartbreak loss, you know, just the

Lian (20:12)

Mm.

landon (20:14)

emotional feelings that you get that can be really, really bad. That's like I was feeling that and it was horrible because I was confused. I didn't know 'Cause in my mind one minute it felt like I was just in reality and the next all of a sudden I'm above this ambulance

Lian (20:35)

Mm.

landon (20:37)

and having these horrible emotional and spiritual feelings. So it was very confusing for me. I remember the ambulance started to take off down the street fast. I just was right there with it above it, watching them all just working on me and and do the things they were doing and it and those feelings were just it was awful the the

Lian (21:04)

Mm.

landon (21:05)

those feelings I had. And so as I'm watching the ambulance go down the street fast, I'm just staying right with it. It it doesn't feel like you would think if you're go if you're above an ambulance outside you'd feel like whoosh, you know, be going with it, but it didn't even feel like I was moving it or it was it almost felt like I was sitting with the ambulance and the world was moving past us and we were staying still. I guess you could say,

Lian (21:31)

Mm. How interesting.

landon (21:33)

yeah, I haven't explained it that way to before, but that's it felt like we were the ones that were stationary and everything else was was going past.

Lian (21:42)

Mm.

landon (21:43)

It was interesting, but so we get closer to the hospital and I remember these feelings of anxiety, panic attack, fear, loss, just depression. It it it got to where Man, every time I talk about this I d just get the twitch I get. Yeah, it sucks. But when it got to a point that I I couldn't handle it, what I felt anymore. I still can't find a better word other than I felt like I was gonna explode.

Lian (22:32)

Hmm. Just like so much feeling like you almost couldn't into contain it in

landon (22:34)

and went i

Lian (22:37)

you.

landon (22:38)

Yeah, and it was all at once and it and the thing is it was it was almost like the the more I've thought about over the years it's almost like I was feeling a lot of the pain, anguish and grief that maybe not even I've had in my life, but I've that I've caused others in my life. that I

Lian (23:04)

Mm.

landon (23:04)

was I was feeling that above that ambulance. I almost as I've thought about over the years, because people have asked, you know, did you have a life review? And I tell I guess kinda, you know, a certain part that I'll tell you in a bit. But the more I've thought about it, it was like, man, that it wasn't a life review, but I do feel like the things I did to hurt myself and to people, others, I felt.

Lian (23:33)

Mm.

landon (23:33)

how that that affected me and others, I guess. And and that's the way I've thought lately about, yeah, that does make sense because I've heard other people in there say, you know, in their review they felt how they affected someone. And I don't know whose alls are are real or embellished or or or whatnot. But when when I heard that,

Lian (23:56)

Mm.

landon (23:57)

that kind of reminded me of, you know, that was a little bit of a review because I try to make sense of why I would be allowed to feel all of that.

Lian (24:08)

Hmm. So it was a a review

landon (24:09)

When I hear

Lian (24:11)

of sorts. Yeah. It wasn't a typical review, but

landon (24:13)

Mm-hmm.

Lian (24:14)

it was that really makes sense. And you weren't conscious to a particular it wasn't like you were thinking, I feel all of this because I'm dying, or I'm feeling all of this because I feel ashamed. There wasn't a kind of particular thought or it was just the emotion, the pure emotions. Hmm.

landon (24:35)

Yeah. It wasn't I couldn't place my finger on, you know, why I'm feeling this this

Lian (24:42)

Mm.

landon (24:43)

shame at the moment or why you know, it was all just at once. And it and it wasn't it wasn't like like you're saying, it wasn't because of one event that I had had in mind that this was coming from the shame and

Lian (24:59)

Mm.

landon (25:00)

everything. It was just I don't know how to explain it other than when you tell someone you felt so much you were gonna explode that's I and so over time I've thought, you know, that that was kind of I feel There was a lot of bad emotions felt at once. And and there's I know there's a reason

Lian (25:25)

Mm.

landon (25:26)

there's a reason for that. I just I don't know other than kind of what I shared there with you. Maybe that was a bit a little bit of a life review 'cause it did give

Lian (25:37)

Mm.

landon (25:38)

it made me a lot more empathetic after because I felt emotions and and sorrow that I that was pretty bad and it it made

Lian (25:48)

Mm.

landon (25:50)

made me have much more empathy for people after. so

Lian (25:54)

Yeah. And then what happened?

landon (25:58)

so when that happens, when I feel like I'm to the point that I'm gonna explode I just instantly, I mean the blink of an eye, just like that, I'm standing in this huge, beautiful grass field. It's darn near impossible to explain it, the colour, the aura it had around it, I guess is the best way to explain it, it cause it was a glow, but it was so cool. It was the the grass loved me. From going from you know that feeling of the hopelessness, the loss, depression, despair, all that, watching them work on me.

To all of sudden being in this place where I'm standing there and all those bad feelings are gone, and I'm looking down at this beautiful grass. And the grass is loving me. The grass is comforting me. And it and each individual blade also. No, it was like. I could look down at the grass and I could see each individual blade and I could feel each individual blade. Not that I went and stepped on it. No, I could feel the love. And however I'm not the best at expressing these things, you know. I could feel the love from it and it was so incredible and I'm standing there and I remember looking out over the grass and just being able to still see every individual blade of grass and going out for I'd say a quarter mile. I'm not a hundred percent sure how far away it was exactly, but I would say it looked a quarter mile ish. It's just this beautiful rainbow shaped hill. And so I'm looking at this grass just in awe of it loving me and how it looks and over this hill are are so many lights like so many lights and and there are no lights that I can describe it here on earth but they they look and I the way I describe it is it looks like someone takes a spotlight and if you put like a a crystal or diamond and were to put it on top of that spotlight and those refractions of colours of just you know just crazy colours coming it was like that and and the beams they had their own specific colours, the first one was my grandpa, Which was super, super cool because like I said, the grass was loving me and I was just in awe of where I was and I noticed behind that hill my grandpa and he was a reddish light, which is it it was it's cool because that colour has had more meaning and significance to me since this incident, with things that have happened in my life, but he was a he was a reddish coloured one and he literally came, gave me a hug and I I felt him and it was I mean you you can ask people, would you rather see a picture of your lost loved one one last time or would you rather feel a hug from them one last time and have them tell them they love you? You know what I mean? You're good. Do you want the picture

Lian (30:06)

Mm.

landon (30:07)

or do you want the and that's what it was like? It wasn't I didn't just see my grandpa. I felt him and he came and said, I

Lian (30:14)

Mm.

landon (30:16)

I love you, Landon, and I am still your grandpa. And that that's

Lian (30:20)

Mm.

landon (30:21)

a huge thing because that means he's still my grandpa. Our family ties have purpose. Our family ties have meaning. And so that was awesome. And

Lian (30:34)

Mm.

Can I ask, did you just know it was your grandfather? He didn't need to say who he was, you just just knew.

landon (30:45)

Yeah. Yeah. and I and I'm telling you, there I don't have a number for how many lights were back there. I don't think I could count to a billion or a trillion, but it was over that. And that's what's

Lian (31:02)

Mm.

landon (31:02)

that's what's crazy is that that one light of all of immediately I knew it was him. It was I say discerned it because that's the best word I have for it, but he hugged me and he told me I love you, Landon and I'm still your grandpa. And as this is happening, I see this pink, violet, purple coloured light. I have, no I don't have names for the colours, but it was my niece who had passed away in a car accident when she was younger. and she did the same thing to me. Again, just the it was those lights were so cool. I I there's no sci fi movie that can even do it justice. The like the things I saw I It drives me crazy trying to explain them because

Lian (32:07)

Mm.

landon (32:08)

I can't explain it the way that i feel like I just am doing so it's such unjust by trying to explain it the way I do, but she was this beautiful yeah.

Lian (32:23)

Just can I just say you are expressing this beautifully. I appreciate it. May not match your experience that you had, but it it you certainly are evoking something that's beyond. I can it's strange, but behind your words, you're evoking something that is beyond words that I feel that certainly I'm experiencing, and I suspect people watching this will be too. So yeah.

landon (32:50)

Yeah.

Lian (32:50)

I trust that you're doing a better job than you think.

landon (32:54)

Okay, I'll do my best to keep it easy and also to try to explain these things and so I at this point wanted to go back to behind that hill to where I felt loved ones. I felt love. I saw the beautiful colours. The indescribable numerous colours. I wanted to go back there and I that's when I felt a presence. I felt and it was a her, a woman. and so I kinda turned and looked and this is where I see her.

It was one of my favourite parts when I tell the story remembering is seeing the look first look on her face when I kinda turned to look and it just I remember just her head was slightly tilted. She had just this beautiful little smirk. She was just like with the grass, how each blade had almost a halo not a halo but a glow around

Lian (34:03)

No

landon (34:05)

it was the same with her. I mean just it there was a radiance of it was cool. And so

Lian (34:15)

Mm.

landon (34:16)

I started speaking with her. It's a voice that just it was quick. Everything she said I got every detail she meant down to her there was no miscommunication. And I got the way I described it on podcasts this is the best way I have is that if she said the word fire, I would see that glow of that fire instantly. I would feel the warmth of that fire instantly and I would hear the crackling, whatever's burning in that fire, and I would smell the wood burning. And that's if she

Lian (34:57)

Mm.

landon (34:58)

if she said that one word. That's and so that's what I mean. It was if you wanna call it telepathic, her lips weren't moving. I could still there was a voice still, but it was also you know, how do you explain that? How did

Lian (35:14)

Hmm. Well, I think what you've just given the example with the fire, I think was

landon (35:16)

in

Lian (35:19)

beautiful. I've had not the same experiences in a near death experience, but I've had other experiences where I have had experiences as you're describing, where it's kind of information in quote marks is shown instantly with all of these different facets. And I wonder if everyone has at some point in their lives. So it may not be exactly as you're describing, but I think that experience where we can feel and know and sense something all at once. I understand what you mean there.

landon (35:55)

Yeah, it's it's hard to describe that when up there, you know, when it was like you kinda just said it was it was instant. It was like im a download, you know, when she would speak and stuff like that. And I felt her emotions. I felt what she was meaning by each word. You know, I didn't have to try to interpret in my own life situations maybe what she meant by saying that. take it wrong, you know, it was just perfect. And that made it hard coming back too because especially after my brain injury, I have a hard time sometimes thinking of words exactly and and and expressing and stuff. And so it can get very frustrating sometimes. But that's what was cool up there is she was a the way she talked to me was like that. and they were sh

Lian (36:56)

Mm. And what does she say?

What does she tell you?

landon (37:00)

So she at first it was just her. And she was just explaining to me a little bit about why I couldn't go back behind that hill right then. very it it's personal things. There's on each podcast I've done, I've shared diff different things at times. Not that I'm like Ooh, I wanna suspensefully hold stuff back and you know, it's not. There was a lot of very personal sacred things that were said and happened to me that I need to share. but with me and her, it was at first it was she was comforting me and she was just Explaining to me in a way again, it's hard for me to say this into words because it's not words. It's like trying to take someone's whole like whole say someone had a a a war experience and they had all these emotions and stuff attached to it, but then they had to go tell that short story about what happened in the entire war but without

Lian (38:31)

Really.

landon (38:31)

being able to you know, and so it's hard for me to to communicate exactly what what was going on, but basically just she was she was comforting me at first because I like I said, I was overwhelmed with the grass loving me, with seeing family members and being told they're still my family and they loved me and it was overwhelming with love, but still overwhelming at first, coming from above that ambulance,

Lian (39:05)

Mm.

landon (39:07)

feeling like I was in hell. And so she was just explaining to me, personal reasons why I couldn't go back behind that hill. But the the way she did it, it was cool because normally I would have thought that would have made me upset 'cause I wanted to go behind that hill because my loved ones and what I felt back there, what I saw, I wanted to be back there. And I and she explained how I was why I wasn't able to. but it it was okay. She did it and that's when I felt a presence again, just like her. And like I said, just like in when I was young, that evil feeling I could feel first. I felt it, but it was how did I describe it last time? it's like if you're i if you're hearing someone explain something and you know it's the truth and then you feel the conviction of that truth, it gives you the tingles and the goosebumps.

Lian (40:21)

Mm.

landon (40:22)

and you get even when someone, say the lyrics in a song, they'll say a certain lyric and it'll hit you because of an experience in your life and it'll give you those tingles or goosebumps or you know what I mean? That just that good kind of like ooh like feeling and and that's what they were like when before I saw them and I felt them and that was awesome compared to

Lian (40:47)

Really? Wow, that's so interesting to me. you what you're describing there, that feeling of an embodied sensation when you experience truth. I heard that I don't know if it's in the Netherlands, it's somewhere in that part of the world. They actually can call them truth bumps, where you get the goosebumps when you hear truth. And so they call in their language truth bumps. So I love that and I experienced that a lot.

landon (41:12)

they call it In the Netherlands.

Lian (41:17)

Yeah. So yeah, I completely know what you mean. That's so amazing that you experienced it that way. Before you

landon (41:20)

Truth bumps, I like it. Yeah.

Lian (41:26)

talk about what you're about to, can I ask, do you know who she was? do you have a sense who she was?

landon (41:37)

So on my very first podcast with Jeff Mara that I ever did, I shared with him and it is still very true to this day that I know I'm related to both of them. I know that and I don't know how. It sucks. I wish I would have asked to this day.at the time it wasn't. You know, here in retrospect you think, I wish this shoulda coulda woulda this, shoulda asked the but when you're there in that it's that wasn't something I was worried about. It was just I already felt it and I knew it. Like I said, it was truth. And so I

Lian (42:29)

Mm.

landon (42:31)

I felt like a toddler there, relearning and refeeling things again. But it's yeah, it's hard to explain everything there. But

Lian (42:47)

Mm.

landon (42:48)

yeah, the truth is it was cool. Like the cliche truth and love and all that and they but it was cliche. It was truth it was truth and love, those people, you know, compared to the other ones. And so

as the young man I was I'm related to him. I don't know how. And

Lian (43:16)

Hmm. Yes. So not perhaps in this lifetime, but in a different kind of way, the what we might

call your soul family or something.

landon (43:28)

Mm well, I guess you could call it Soul Family still, but no. I they were they're relatives of mine that that I don't know how to put it, have or will experience this earth just like

Lian (43:50)

Hm.

landon (43:51)

I have experienced it, or would experience it. I and I I don't know. I you know, I s I don't have the answers for all these. I just know I was related to And so when

Lian (44:05)

Mm-hmm.

landon (44:06)

When people, you know, people have asked, you know, from the future or this or that and it's like, you know, I can't tell ya, but I know I'm related to So yes, they could you never know. It could I I remember even saying with Jeff, I it who knows if it was my future daughter or who knows if

Lian (44:28)

Mm.

landon (44:29)

it was a past ancestor. I I just know

Lian (44:33)

No, no.

landon (44:34)

I know that they were my family and how much they loved me. How much they like it

Lian (44:40)

Mm.

landon (44:41)

was so cool. And but the other weird thing is too is my my grandpa and niece were at lights on the other side of that hill, yet they still came and hugged me and confirmed

Lian (44:51)

Mm.

landon (44:52)

who they I mean, it was them still. I saw as lights, but it was them still. what's the purpose of that? I don't know, you know, but these two

Lian (45:01)

Mm.

landon (45:02)

these two people that appeared while standing in that field, they weren't just lights. I mean they had a beautiful just glow about them. but they they were real people or or not real

Lian (45:20)

Mm.

landon (45:20)

but I mean they were you know I saw them as people and so that's that's very interesting to me on that. And Again, I forgot where I was going right before that question. I've a well

Lian (45:32)

You I interrupted you to ask just as you were about to turn to see the other person.

landon (45:38)

you're good. so I turn and see him and I'm speaking with both of them. and they're telling me a lot of cool things and this is where I start about the power of prayer. I'm a follower of Jesus Christ. I'm L D S, Church of the Latter day Saints of Jesus Christ, but what I want people to understand is this experience that I'm about to share with you is I share this because prayer is for everybody on this earth. I say this if you no matter what race, ethnicity, where you were born, man no matter what, even if you don't have an understanding of a creator if you don't believe or you don't know or you're not sure of a God of a loving creator. I'm telling you that prayer is for everybody on this earth. And I say I don't make it religious. I am a follower of the teachings of Jesus Christ and his gospel. But prayer and this experience that I had, prayer is for everybody. And I I don't care if people what people say in any religion if they try to push people out of saying, you have to do this to talk to your creator, you have to no. No, you keep an open heart and mind and if you seek and you'll find, I'll tell you that. so what happened is they're they're talking with me and so they started telling me about the power prayer and I questioned that just so arrogantly. Because before this, like I said, I had been homeless, I'd lost family members, I'd just been stripped of everything in my life. and at this point my and so they when I asked them and was saying basically the power of prayer, what the heck do you mean? Look at my life. I've you know, there's been times that I prayed and they were never necessarily like fervent prayers. It was always just kind of foxhole prayers like, no, I feel I'm in trouble again. Please get me out of trouble now and I'll never do this again. Never you know that.

Lian (48:24)

Mm.

landon (48:26)

But and so I questioned that and they showed me this night where I was homeless in Leighton Utah here in America and there's a Walmart and in a town that I actually grew up in. and it was around Thanksgiving time. I was homeless, I was alone. I was with my brother before that. And so we were kinda homeless together, but he actually just got taken to jail a few months before that, which is a hilarious story for another time. I know you wouldn't think that from taking jail, but

Lian (49:15)

Ha ha ha.

landon (49:18)

But And so it left me out there alone. I again I was a drug addict too, deep into drugs, but I would go hold up this sign on the corner of this Walmart, just just begging for change and that is such a terrible thing, you know, like when I see people on street corners now and and them them at that point in their life where they decided that they were gonna be humiliated enough and ashamed enough to sit there with a sign. No matter what their reasoning for it is, no matter what they might do for the with the money might do or not do, it doesn't you know, that doesn't go through my head anymore. That's what I mean with like with empathy, like because I remember me when I first started to hold that sign in the shame, in the guilt, in the depression, and the just the to to be able to sit there in front of people and have a sign basically saying, Look, I'm I'm worthless. Will you help me if you have a moment type thing? And that's where I was at in my life.

And so this one night I remember it was around Thanksgiving and I was behind this dumpster where the little Caesars would throw food out and I would try to get there to, you know, get some leftover thrown out food before it got all nasty or animals got there or other homeless people got to it. I was sitting there behind the dumpster and I remember I had suicidal ideations for a little bit, after being homeless and after my brother had left and just just feeling stripped of everything and I remember sitting there and wondering, Okay, Landon, what's the least painful way you can do this? Like How are you gonna commit suicide the least pain painful way? And I remember thinking, okay, the risks, you know, I won't get into it, but I just like, Okay, this is how it's gonna go. You're gonna do it tonight. And and when I when it I remember that moment in my head too, very distinctly when it clicked like 'Cause I was struggling with it. I was scared, I didn't want to, but I also, you know, so selfishly thinking, No one loves me, why am I going through this? There can't be a God, because if there is a God, why would he let me be feeling these things I am and be going through everything I'm going? And i and also just just for everybody, everything was all self inflicted on me. God never punished me through anything. Through my life, the things I've done and now in retrospect, if anything, I well not if anything, if everything, there was a creator and a loving heavenly father that actually got me through those times that I thought he was punishing me. But so when I was about to the point of committing suicide and I was about to do it, I remember feeling this literal hug and I it I tell people at first I told people like I felt you know a a hug, an embrace, and they were thinking, you know, just like you got the warm fuzzy feelings, you know, or something like that burning in the bosom. no, I got a hug. Someone came and bear hug wrapped their legs and arms around me and just held me. And if you could imagine the words I love you, everything'll be okay, you're worth it. Being put into a hug. That's what I felt with that hug right there. And when I literally felt it physically that night, I was turned and it scared me for a second. I was like, what the heck? Like who just came and hugged me and made me feel loved and where are they now? What the heck? And it stopped me from committing suicide that night. And it didn't make sense

Lian (54:04)

Mm.

landon (54:05)

to me that night. It was very confusing to me that night that I physically felt it, emotionally and spiritually felt it too. But that's what the crazy thing. It was the spiritual realm can have physical properties, I guess the ways I can put it there. I don't know how

Lian (54:28)

Mm-hmm.

landon (54:28)

or I don't know how or why or you know how when it chooses to or why or how you know, but I can tell you that night it I felt that and it stopped me from committing suicide. And what was cool is when I was questioning them about prayer, they showed me that night and they basically said like d you see now how loved you are. And how protected you are. And what they showed me was that night when I was behind that dumpster and I felt that hug, I saw literal beams just like during my near-death experience from behind that hill. I saw those come to me and hit me behind that dumpster. And that's when, like I said in the beginning it was just a hug and all of a sudden the great feelings came. I didn't want to commit suicide, but I was still scary and confused on earth when it happened. But when they showed me what happened that night and it never made sense before, those beams of light came to me and hit me. And I saw these dark things just take off. And and if you if you wanna have an idea of what it kind of looked like, imagine a big trash bag if you were to hold it in a windstorm and it was almost like, you know, it's flapping around. It's

Lian (56:00)

Mm-hmm.

landon (56:01)

almost like it's trying to take off from your hand, but you're holding it. But if you were to let go and then just so it was that's the best way I can describe those dark wispy things. Take off from me from behind this dumpster when I saw these lights come hit me. And they

Lian (56:20)

Hmm. So you saw both. You saw the dark energy spirits and you saw the light come to protect you.

landon (56:29)

I saw those leave when the light came.

Lian (56:31)

Mm.

landon (56:32)

So I didn't, it was like watching myself in third person. It and it's hard because it wasn't it's not like they flipped on the T V or like mining your computer screen. It was like I was there again for a second. Like it

Lian (56:46)

Mm.

landon (56:48)

it was real. And I remember feeling those feelings of s those suicidal feelings that night and and they that's when I it was almost like It was standing in third person watching an event in your life. It was cool it was crazy. And I saw those beams come and hit me and that's when I saw the dark things flee. I didn't know there was

Lian (57:13)

Mm.

landon (57:14)

dark things in around me, where wherever they came, I saw fly from all around me. I don't but so they were with me, whatever those dark things were that night, and these two people showed me that those were prayers and love and like the spirits and prayers and love from my loved ones both here on earth and both on the other side. And that was dude, that is such a crazy thing to have experience. Now that I've done some of these podcasts, I have people that that are that reach out and, you know, are believing me, that that I not even you don't even have to believe me, but at least an open mind to what I'm trying to share my experience to where people don't think I'm totally crazy because I I didn't share it for a long time because of that. I didn't want people thinking

Lian (58:15)

Mm.

landon (58:16)

Landon just you know, he had a bad brain injury. He had bad brain damage, you know. I man, if you saw the picture, I'm sure if you saw the pictures, I'm opened up from behind my ear all the way up to the top of my skull. They had to take part of it off and put holes and stents and titanium plates in. I wear a hat lot now because I just got a trench of a scar, but

Lian (58:48)

just to say talking about truth bumps when you talked about those lights coming to you. I got truth bumps as you shared that. So I'm guessing you then coming back to you speaking to these two people and them showing you the power of prayer and the I'm guessing that you could see what they meant. You were believed them.

landon (59:14)

Yeah.

Lian (59:15)

Ha.

landon (59:15)

It shut me up quick. Yeah. It was

Lian (59:18)

Yeah.

landon (59:19)

it it made me feel very arrogant thinking

Lian (59:23)

Hmm.

landon (59:24)

that that I could question them about what do you mean the power of prayer and and what do you mean that that we are loved and we are helped or that makes no sense, you know, look at these horrible situations I've been at in my life, especially and and especially, you know, when I said that the thought came to my mind that one night that I was gonna commit suicide and that's when boom they took me to that night.

Lian (59:48)

Mm.

landon (59:49)

I saw physically, tangibly prayers. Like I didn't just I felt it

Lian (59:57)

Mm.

landon (59:58)

that I felt it that night on earth and it scared me. It didn't make sense. Who grabbed me? What the heck? And it didn't make sense. And then when they showed me there, it was just like, Wow, this is crazy. Like I've you know, I've I've pe I've had n in retrospect, I've had prayers answered in in ways that I didn't understand at the time was the best thing for me. You know, it was like

Lian (1:00:28)

Mm.

landon (1:00:29)

it just it's so cool how our creator uses others' struggles or your struggles to help others. And in return it begins to start to help you. And so it's like with prayer too, There's so many things in this life that people take for granted or that don't think have power to it because they can't get that immediate satisfaction or immediate see, feel, touch. You know, there's no more the world doesn't seem to have a lot of patience anymore or a lot of faith or being taken the time to be willing to understand certain things and so we blow a lot of them away or or call them voodoo. and that's why when I say prayer too, I I tell people it's not it's not religious. we all have a creator and a father. And that creator wants to hear from you whether you think you know him or not, or whether you think he exists or not, or whether you're just not sure. I tell that's why I tell people, you know, from Christians I get a lot of flack, and I am one. I get a lot of flack. No, you don't tell people just to pray. Don't say that, you know, prayer there's only one way to pray, but you know, I end my prayers in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. But I'll tell you what, our Heavenly Father, just because someone else may not know Jesus or was not or or whatever, however, you're born, whatever, I don't blow any, I'm not bashing on any religions or any of that. What I'm telling you is don't listen to people if they tell you how you need to pray. Because

Lian (1:02:30)

Mm.

landon (1:02:30)

our creator is your best friend and there's he you know from what I learned from it them up there a prayer is very personal to me and there's no wrong way to pray. I you know the I pray when I'm doing bad. I I pray when I'm doing good and since I've done that it you will see I pray Promise you, I promise you, I promise you, if you pray with an open heart and mind. You will see miracles each day. You will start seeing them, even if you're not looking for them And even if you don't necessarily believe in prayer, try it. Like just try because it's like if you had a gun but you just never want to put ammo in it. You'll the gun's useless. Prayer's like the same thing, you know, you have this ability and this connection, to this to this higher source and love and and if you don't if you don't pray it's like you have this amazing tool or weapon that you're just not wanting to put any time or ammo into, so it's not gonna do you much good. And so that's what was cool

Lian (1:03:59)

Mm.

landon (1:04:00)

about prayers. They showed me how it it literally physically I felt it. It spiritually drove those whatever you want to call those dark entities away from me. and so they're telling me

Lian (1:04:17)

Amazing. Hmm.

landon (1:04:19)

It was so cool to see that. I

Lian (1:04:22)

Yeah.

landon (1:04:22)

mean it was also it was also very it's hard for me because I was scared of ridicule and I was scared of people close to me, what they would think of me when sharing this and all that and that's why it took so long. But if you know, I'll accept the ridicule if my story can help even just one person and it was worth it. And I'm telling you prayers are a tangible and spiritual unstoppable force.

Lian (1:05:03)

Mm.

landon (1:05:04)

mean, if I wish I could show you guys what I saw in prayers because it Yeah, it was crazy to know that night. I physically felt it. They sh tangibly showed me it and then they emotionally and everything explained it I'm a recovering drug addict. There's been years and months and whatever that my family, you know, were saying prayers and and please, you know, help me and all that. And they didn't know their prayers were being answered. But I man, I can tell you I mean, I've already died so many times. I've only had one near death experience, but I've clinically flat lined cardiac arrest a few quite a few times. but I can tell you that my family, they and loved ones, they very easily or probably did think, you know what, why the heck am I even praying for this? Why am I asking to help Landon or this or that? Because look, there's nothing's changing. You know, in their eyes, they're like, this

Lian (1:06:13)

No.

landon (1:06:14)

this is stupid. Why am I praying? But I'm telling you guys, I physically saw those and those prayers that came to me at that time, those weren't prayers being said right then. Those were genuine love and heartfelt prayers that were almost like stored away in a storage bank by God. I I tried to explain this last time. It's like no prayer, just because you say a prayer and you don't see it answered immediately. That just means that God's given it time to make it even better the answer is what I've come to the conclusion of. Because

Lian (1:06:54)

Mm.

landon (1:06:57)

no prayer goes unanswered, no prayer goes unheard. And if you think that just because your prayer didn't happen exactly the way you wanted it, exactly when you wanted it, that that's not that's not a prayer, that's a demand. You know.

Lian (1:07:15)

Mm, yes. And we know the difference. We do know the difference, even we might pretend we don't. Yeah. So

landon (1:07:17)

There there's there's a there's a big yes there's a big difference.

Lian (1:07:26)

we are we are up on time, but I would love to

landon (1:07:29)

Okay.

Lian (1:07:30)

know is there anything else that you would like to share in terms of what happened next in that experience that 'cause I'm sure everyone wants to kind of know the ending. So yeah, is that possible?

landon (1:07:42)

Yeah. Yeah. Yep, I'll make this short. So there was no goodbyes. I got one last final I love you from all the lights. All the lights. It was no words can describe what that last I love you, but this is the important part. I will see you again. It was not just I love you, goodbye. It was I love you, I will see you again. " And basically they like they're tell it was like they're saying, We know how hard it is down there. We got your back and type thing. And so I remember hearing her voice saying, Landon, it's time, because What had happened is when they gave me that one last I love you goodbye all of a sudden boom just like how I had appeared there, I was out of there. And now I'm above my body watching brain surgery. because I had a traumatic brain injury from everything happened earlier. I'm watching them. I won't get into details, but they had my head open, we're Doing stuff with my skull flap, and I'm watching this and I hate gore movies. I don't like blood. I don't like that stuff. And so watching this was pretty gnarly for me because all those good feelings that I felt up there were gone. I was back above my body again, all that anxiety and depression were there. And I heard her voice. She said, Lan and it's time. And I was like, What? And She said, Landon, it's time. And I remember opening my eyes and seeing just like behind that dumpster, those dark wispy things take off out of my hospital room again. And what had happened is when I came out of my surgeries and my mini coma, I guess the first was one of the first coherent things I could say to my wife was, Get my dad. I need a priesthood blessing. I don't remember saying that. And that's not something that's not something that I'm gonna normally s ever say. And so that happened. I got a blessing and and those things fled out and I learned later that that it was because my dad gave me a blessing and it all kind of connected and and long story short, I was in there for a while more, a few more months and I recovered miraculously fast and I was able to talk with nurses and ask certain things about my NDE, why this happened, why that happened. And it verified that I was seeing myself from out of my body.

Lian (1:10:35)

Mm-hmm.

landon (1:10:36)

there was no way I could know certain things without that. And so and so yeah, to wrap it up with that, it's it's I had it I had it verified. this is not a story I sought out to share with the world. I just shared in a Facebook group one day seeing if anybody else had had a similar experience 'cause I was freaked out. By everything that happened and now it's snowballing and and and I love to share my testimony with people of the power of prayer that life goes on after this, you will see your loved ones again, and that families families can be together forever. And we live in a spiritual world, and there's spiritual warfare going on right now, and so I recommend highly recommend everybody to pray every day, whether you know how to or not. Like I said, I do it just like I'm talking to my best friend. I do it on the toilet. I do it when I'm walking through a street. You know, I don't there's no wrong way to pray because there's no there's no time that you are not being spiritually attacked or in warfare but also spiritually helped. You have no idea

Lian (1:12:01)

Mm-hmm.

landon (1:12:03)

how much backup you have, how much loved ones. So I would leave that with people that whether you know how to or not, or no matter what your race, ethnicity, religion, creed, anything is, the power of prayer is real and I promise you if you try and give it a give it a go. and then keep your mind open, you're gonna be blown away. It'sprayer is not only just spiritual, it is physical too. And I saw that.

Lian (1:12:40)

Hmm. Before we close, can I ask how this experience and what you've learned about prayer has helped with your recovery journey?

landon (1:12:55)

Yeah. So what I learned about prayer is what gets me through this life every day because I know that I can ask and help ask for help. And it might not come in the way that I think I need it at that moment, but I know it'll come. I've seen it, you know. from this experience and I know that praying for others is a real thing. Don't think that there's you're just putting it out just to nothing in the universe. I promise they're heard and they're answered and and I pray every day because otherwise my addiction, I am an addict for the rest of my life. I have quite a I've quite a few years clean from like really hardcore drugs and all that I used to be into, but I have to work on it every day. And so as far as my recovery even from addiction, prayer I know is real. And I do it every day to help me and help others. And I would recommend for anybody out there who's struggling with addiction or anybody out there who has a family member struggling with addiction.

Prayer is real, help is real, help is there, and it can't always be there unless you ask. Cause that's part of our free will on this earth. We are in a school here to learn and we have free will. And in order to receive all the help you need, it's up for you to ask because that's your free will. And so I would encourage to pray for yourself. And pray for your family members who are struggling if you have any, because my family members when they were praying for me and didn't think it was working, that's when I gotta see that moment that it saved my life.

Lian (1:15:01)

Hmm. Wonderful. Thank you so much, Landon. This has been so special. I know that you've set up a YouTube channel so that people can find out more about you. Would you be able to share where that is?

landon (1:15:17)

Yeah. and this is just for people, you know, there's so much there's a lot more to my story and and I love when people ask questions or or or reach out to me and have any type of questions for so I it's me and my brother. He is he's you guys would love him. He's amazing and much more eloquent than I am, but it's I just put a YouTube channel and it's let me see here. It's the the at sign from the dumps because anybody who has questions about my experience or anything else I came from the dumps and from behind that dumpster and anybody who has family or would like more questions that's how you can get a hold of me or on my Facebook. And I'm

Lian (1:16:09)

Wonderful.

landon (1:16:09)

not selling books, I'm not selling anything like that. I don't want money. I don't want anybody's money. I want people to feel comforted by hearing my experience. So yeah, if you have any more questions you can go there. And I appreciate you letting me on your podcast after, you know, all the articles went out through Europe and wherever I appreciate you let me on here and kinda clarify in my own words a little bit, more about my story.

Lian (1:16:45)

Truly my pleasure. Thank you so much. And thank you for your generosity in sharing your story as you do. You really are doing so much good.

landon (1:16:53)

Thank you so much. I appreciate the opportunity.

Lian (1:16:57)

What a wonderful episode, so moving, and what a precious soul Landon is. Here are three things that stayed with me. Prayer, as Landon was shown it, isn't just words offered into silence, it can arrive as something felt and seen, light strong enough to drive back darkness, and its effects are not always immediate. A prayer said years earlier can still be the thing that saves someone long after it appears to have gone unanswered.

Landon's grandfather and niece came to him as light rather than in remembered form. And that recognition, the feeling of like physically being hugged were no less than how he'd experienced them in life, an indication perhaps that love does indeed transcend death.
